Stefania Alba e Andrea Mancini sono lieti di presentare “Sara Pope and Daniel Syrett, artists from Workhouse Gallery”, mostra di arte contemporanea con inaugurazione giovedì 11 settembre, ore 18:30 presso 166A Studio D’Arte, via Cavour (Firenze).
È con infinita soddisfazione che presentiamo, in esclusiva per Firenze e per l’Italia, due giovani artisti contemporanei inglesi di ispirazione “neo-pop” come Sara e Daniel, già molto conosciuti nel loro paese e reduci da una vera e propria “Tourneè” espositiva attraverso l’Europa.
Con questa mostra continuiamo in quell’intento condiviso con altri curatori, di presentare nella nostra città artisti internazionali, iniziato con le “Fairy Tales” di Catalina Tranquillo e poi continuato con il prestigioso “Homage to Henry James” a cura di Beth Vermeer in collaborazione con La Nottola Di Minerva e l’Accademia delle Belle Arti Di Firenze.
La Workhouse Gallery è una galleria d’arte contemporanea con sede a Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Ne è titolare l’artista e curatore Daniel Syrett. Daniel ha un background nel settore della moda, dove ha lavorato per Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent, più altri come designer tessile.
Nel corso degli anni ’90, Daniel Syrett era anche uno noto stilista di moda, lavorando per molte case discografiche di tutto il mondo, progettando gli abiti per diversi pop star internazionali.
Daniel ha iniziato a dipingere nel 2008, quando gli fu chiesto di esporre in una mostra collettiva con Banksy, Blek le Rat e altri. Daniel come artista è rappresentato da numerose gallerie di tutto il Regno Unito e in Europa.
Sara Pope proviene anch’essa dal settore della moda, oltre a lavorare sulle riviste, lavorando principalmente come designer di scarpe. Tra i suoi clienti ricordiamo nomi come Paul Smith, Lacoste e Felder, con cui ha disegnato le scarpe per le sfilate di London Fashion Week. Sara non ha alcuna formazione artistica formale e ha iniziato a dipingere nel 2009. È rappresentata da diverse gallerie della Gran Bretagna, e molti suoi lavori compaiono in diverse importanti collezioni.
Inoltre un suo ritratto di Papa Francesco, con l’occasione di questa mostra al 166Arte, è stata ultimamente acquisita dal Vaticano.
La mostra sarà aperta al pubblico dal’ 11 al 26 settembre 2014 al 166Arte, via Cavour 166Ar Firenze.

Stefania Alba and Andrea Mancini are pleased to present “Sara Pope and Daniel Syrett, UK artists from Workhouse Gallery”, a contemporary art exhibition opening on Thursday the 11th September, at 18:30 at166A Studio D’Arte, Via Cavour (Florence).
It is our pleasure to present, exclusively in Florence and Italy, two young contemporary artists inspired by British “neo-pop” like Sara and Daniel, who are already well known in their country. This exhibition is part of a european wide tour of their work.
With this exhibition, we continue with the idea shared with other curators, of presenting international artists in our city. Which started with the “Fairy Tales” Catalina Quiet and then continued with the prestigious “Homage to Henry James” by Beth Vermeer in collaboration with the noctule Of Minerva and the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence.
WorkHouse Gallery is a contemporary modern art gallery based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Owned by artist and curator Daniel Syrett. Daniel has a background in the fashion industry, where he has worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent plus others as a textile designer. During the 1990’s Daniel was also well known fashion stylist, working for many record companies around the world, designing the outfits for several international pop stars.
Daniel started painting in 2008 when he was asked to show in a group show with Banksy, Blek le Rat and others. Daniel as an artist is represented by several galleries around the UK and Europe.
Sara Pope also comes from the fashion industry as well as working on magazines, working primarily as a shoe designer. Past clients include Paul Smith, Lacoste and Felder and Felder who she designed shoes for London fashion Week catwalk shows. Sara has no formal art training and started painting in 2009. She is represented by several galleries in the UK, and has work in several major collections. Plus she is about to have her portrait of the Pope accepted by the Vatican.
